Christmas Maritime Gathering !
This week-end we held a Christmas Gathering for all the families in the Maritimes that are in the process of adopting from Ethiopia ! This is something I started after seeing that other provinces had these support groups and I really wanted us Maritime families to be able to build this type of bond as well.
Pierre and I feel that it will be important for our children to know other families built like ours !
There were 2 of the families that came over on Friday night and helped me prepare for the gathering ! Then on Saturday, we were 8 families all together, 5 from New Brunswick, 2 from Nova Scotia and 1 from Saskatchewan (they were down visiting family for the holidays).
It was great to see familiar faces again and meeting new families that have recently started the process ! Our group has grown so much in the last year, it is so great to see. There were also many families that were not able to attend this time that we missed and can't wait to see again at future gatherings !
Everyone came over to our house , the children played and had a blast and us adults were able to chat and get to know everyone better. It was a relaxing evening and one of the families had even brought video footage from their trip to Ethiopia which we all watched together !
We hope to be able to keep doing these gatherings on a regular bases as it is so neat to be able to follow everyone's adoption journey !

I know our process felt like it was in slump, but getting together with other families, making connections, seeing other couples and knowing it was possible, renewed Dan and I so much. I thank you a trizillion fold for arranging and holding our holiday gathering.
Your children will come home, long awaited, to fill the space you have focused so much attention and love on, they will come into the community of people you are creating who will all shower them with affection & attention, imagine how lucky they will be, and imagine you waiting, so patiently to make such a beautiful life for two small children out there somewhere... hang in there... you are creating something amazing
