Maritime Support Group

I am so excited as I decided to get a support group going for us Maritime families here as there was none that existed yet. I am now linked as the contact person in the maritime for our adoption agency.

There are many families interested and I have gotten a lot of help from the agency and Louise as well who is also an expectant adoptive mother here in NB.
Most of the other provinces all had these kinds of support group, however since we were only a few families in NB, we decided to instead include all the provinces of the Maritimes.

We are looking to have gatherings for families all around the Martimes that are in the process of adopting or already home with their children. The best support for adoptive families are each other as they know exactly what you are going through or went through. It is very important to us for our children to be able to spend time with other children from their birth country so we are going to try to change the locations of these gathering throughout the maritimes in order for all families to at some point be able to join us.

We are currently looking to have our first get together sometimes this summer. We hope that many families will be able to attend. We are still looking at different activities we could do which is a lot of fun as many of the families are already home with their children. It will be fun to be able to meet with all the families that we talk to everyday on email but have never met.

We are all really looking forward to these get togethers :)
